AKI rolls out Motor Insurance Certificate Verification Campaign

The Association of Kenya Insurers (AKI) has launched a public sensitization campaign urging motorists to verify the authenticity of their motor insurance certificates. While motor insurance is mandatory in Kenya, it remains vulnerable to widespread fraud, exposing drivers and passengers to risk.

Since the rollout of digital motor insurance certificates in 2020, customers have enjoyed convenience and real-time access. However, having a digital certificate alone is not enough—it must be verified.

Motorists are advised to dial *352# or use the BIMA YANGU app to confirm their insurance status, which will indicate whether it is Genuine, Expired, Invalid, or Upcoming (starting at a later date).

If your certificate reads Invalid, reach out to AKI via 0709 640000 or info@akinsure.com for assistance.
